Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology

Dr Danny Murguia, Research Associate at the Laing O’Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology, gave a presentation entitled “Digital measurement of construction performance: data-to-dashboard strategy” at the CIB W78 World Building Congress 2022, organised by the RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.

His work is part of the research conducted at the LORC Centre under the theme “Performance and Productivity” led by the Centre’s Director Professor Cam Middleton. This project aims to develop new and improved methods for measuring the performance of major building and infrastructure projects. The presentation reported the early findings of performance metrics that help practitioners to better understand what is happening in the field and identify opportunities for programme and productivity improvement. This work is being conducted in collaboration with major clients and contractors of UK-based projects. The next steps include the deployment of digital techniques for timely data capture, processing, and interpretation, as well as the use of process-oriented performance metrics for decision-making.
