Biography
Dr Danny Murguia is an Assistant Research Professor at the Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology, where he is leading a research programme aimed at developing novel methods to enhance the performance and productivity of major building and infrastructure projects through digital techniques and automation. He is a Civil Engineer with twelve years of industry experience in construction engineering before joining academia. He holds a PhD in Civil and Building Engineering at Loughborough University, where he was awarded the Doctoral Research Excellence Award for the outstanding quality of work during the doctoral studies. His research focuses on Construction 4.0, AI in construction, data analytics, and data-driven tools for construction engineering. He is developing a digital ecosystem and applying data science techniques to transform construction data into actionable insights for improving productivity and reducing carbon emissions. He has maintained an active role within the Construction Engineering research community serving as an Associate Editor for the 2021 International Group for Lean Construction (IGLC) Conference and Area Chair for the 41st International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in Construction.
