Construction Engineering Masters 2020

Empower the emerging leaders in your company through this unique, part-time leadership programme at the University of Cambridge.

The University of Cambridge Construction Engineering Master’s (CEM) leadership programme is a two-year, part-time Master of Studies (MSt) degree designed specifically for professionals working in the construction industry. The course is delivered by the Centre in collaboration with the Cambridge Judge Business School.

The CEM aims to educate and inspire students to become agents of change - equipping them to transform the industry through research and study but also through professional and personal development, with an ongoing focus on communication, leadership and research skills.

Who is it for?

The CEM degree has, so far, educated 180 industry professionals, representing 49 infrastructure development and related businesses.

The degree is designed for professionals with several years’ industry experience who have been identified as current or emerging leaders in their company. The format allows students to combine work and study, inviting a synergy between real-time industry challenges and world-leading research to explore potential innovative solutions. Students come from a variety of companies and organisations and hold a number of senior roles across design, construction, project management, facilities management, law and financial management.

The unique, multidisciplinary programme

In just one year (Dec ‘18 – Nov ‘19), 96  experts taught on the CEM programme – 29 from industry, 54 from academia, 13 from government

The programme is delivered by academic staff, government representatives and high-level industry experts representing a range of disciplines to ensure content is industry-focused and underpins strategic research priorities for the transformation of the industry. The programme covers the industry in its broadest sense, from policy and planning through to the physical construction and maintenance of infrastructure. Programme content is constantly evolving to keep pace with the changing landscape of the sector and continues to attract support from a growing network of practitioners, professional associations, industry leaders and government organisations.

The programme spans topics from ‘Design for value’ and ‘Advanced construction management’, to ‘Finance,, planning and procurement’ - see details of all our current modules, here.
