Biography
Dr Qian Chen is a Research Associate affiliated with Prof Middleton at the Laing O’Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology, where she has been researching performance measurement methods through investigating industry evidence to improve construction in the UK. Dr Chen is interested in using digital technologies, optimizing algorithms and project management methods to enable collaboration among stakeholders while accelerating the digital transformation of construction projects. Dr Chen completed her Doctor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering from ETH Zurich in Switzerland. Her research was focused on a systematic approach to enabling digital supply chain coordination in construction projects when utilizing lean production methods, BIM techniques and optimization algorithms. Dr Chen holds a Master of Science from Tongji University in Construction Management and Real Estate and a Master of Science from Politecnico di Milano in Management Engineering. Her academic journey has spanned many countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy, China, Switzerland, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates.
