Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology

Many congratulations to Professor Peter Guthrie, who has been awarded a Commanders of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to Engineering in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours 2024.

Professor Guthrie’s research is focused on the assessment of large-scale projects for sustainability, resilience of infrastructure, and energy efficiency in buildings, and his work has included consideration of mixed developments, mining projects, housing, health, and educational buildings in the UK and developing countries.

He said: “I am delighted by this honour. I see it as an endorsement of the work I have been engaged in at the Royal Academy of Engineering and the University of Cambridge to promote engineering and its contribution to society and to drive sustainable development thinking into civil engineering practice. The work and the honour are shared with my superb colleagues and have been made possible by the unstinting support of my wife and family.”
