Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology

Chris McKinstray, one of our students on the Construction Engineering Masters program, Cohort 1, together with his supervisor Dr Azad Camyab, presented a paper titled "The European Supergrid - Messiah or Pariah?" at the 2nd Annual European Renewable Energy Project Finance Conference in London this February.

The paper examined the Supergrid proposal and the risks, uncertainties and the various challenges associated with this ambitious project.  Action required to mitigate and manage these risks were also discussed.  The paper will also be presented at the prestigious Powergen Europe energy conference in Vienna in June 2013.

In addition, the paper was also recently selected by the Award Committee as one of the three finalists for the FOSG Supergrid 2013 Award,  The name and related project of the three finalists will be announced to the audience during the award ceremony scheduled in the framework of the Supergrid 2013 conference to be held on the 19th of March 2013 and the finalist certificate will be granted.

On behalf of the CEM team we congratulate Chris for his outstanding research and the success of his paper.
