Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology

Would you like to be part of a world-leading academic institution to help shape and transform the construction sector?

Applications are invited for a Laing O'Rourke Assistant/Associate Professor of Construction Engineering. The successful candidate will join the Engineering Department's Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology to fulfil a shared vision of transforming the construction sector by educating future industry leaders, driving forward innovation and new technologies, providing thought-leadership and undertaking evidence-based research to underpin government and industry policies.

We are seeking applicants who already have, or are building, an excellent track record in research areas that have the potential to significantly impact the development of the UK construction industry. The Centre's current research portfolio covers a very broad spectrum of topics including carbon reduction, digital transformation, performance and productivity measurement, procurement, modern methods of construction, structural health monitoring, sensing and smart infrastructure, innovative materials and processes, AI & machine learning, digital twins, and computer vision applications in construction. The post holder will be expected to work closely with industry partners to attract significant funding to support research that will transform the construction sector.

We particularly welcome applications from women and candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under-represented at this level in our Department.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 16 March 2022. Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Campbell Middleton (crm11@cam.ac.uk) or Professor Ioannis Brilakis (ib340@cam.ac.uk).
