We are delighted to share that Dr Kasun Kariyawasam's research project on fibre optic monitoring has been named as a finalist under two categories for the prestigious Collaborate to Innovate (C2I) Awards 2023, organised by The Engineer UK.

The shortlist for The Engineer’s eighth annual C2I Awards is an inspiring reminder of the UK’s depth of engineering talent and engineers' role in addressing some of the biggest challenges.

Spanning nine categories – including energy & environment, aerospace & defence, automotive, manufacturing, data, and healthcare technology – the full list of shortlisted entries for this year’s competition can be viewed here

The ultimate winners will be revealed at a special party in London on the evening of Thursday, 29th February 2024.

Kasun Kariyawasam was a PhD candidate at the Laing O'Rourke Centre, University of Cambridge, between 2016 and 2020, supervised by Professor Campbell Middleton. Kasun's research focused on developing an efficient and cost-effective structural health monitoring system for bridge scour detection. His PhD was fully funded by Gates Cambridge Trust.
