Dr Marina Schnaider Bortolotto, RA at the Cambridge Laing O'Rourke Centre, recently presented at the 23rd Annual British Geotechnical Association (BGA) Conference, held on 10 June 2026 at the Institution of Civil Engineers in Westminster, London.
Marina was invited to speak as the winner of the prestigious 57th Cooling Prize Competition, one of the UK's leading awards for early-career geotechnical engineers and researchers. At the conference, she presented her prize-winning research, Polymer support fluids permeating sands, to an audience of leading academics and industry professionals from across the geotechnical engineering community.
The event also provided an opportunity to formally recognise Marina's achievement, following her success in the Cooling Prize Competition earlier this year. The award highlights the quality and impact of her research and reflects the Centre's ongoing contribution to advancing knowledge in geotechnical engineering.
