Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology

Today marked a proud moment as our CEM13 students presented their research findings at the 13th Annual Construction Engineering Masters Dissertation Conference. A huge congratulations to all presenters for their impressive work and thought-provoking insights.

The presentations featured a range of compelling topics, including how to make business meetings more effective, whether incinerator bottom ash aggregate can enhance the sustainability of cement, and what lessons the construction sector can learn from the shipbuilding industry.

Dr Gavin Davies, Director of the Construction Engineering Masters programme, opened the conference and remarked, “The most important focus for the CEM programme is the impact and influence that these highly skilled professionals can now make on the industry and society looking forward.”

This annual conference continues to be a key platform for showcasing innovative research, tackling critical issues in the construction sector and fostering the exchange of ideas. It also offers a valuable space for building professional relationships and encouraging cross-sector collaboration.

At the heart of the CEM programme is a strong commitment to both knowledge and character development. Through a mix of forward-thinking leadership, collaboration, creativity and data-driven analysis, we provide a supportive space where meaningful conversations can thrive beyond traditional organisational boundaries.
