Research from the Cambridge Laing O'Rourke Centre was presented at the 43rd International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in Construction (ISARC 2026) in Singapore, highlighting innovative approaches to digital technologies for geotechnical engineering.
PhD researcher Nandeesh Babanagar presented the paper, Reflective Twins for Deep Excavation using Physics-Informed Machine Learning, co-authored with Dr Brian Sheil.
The paper explores a digital twin framework for deep excavations that integrates physics-informed machine learning to support adaptive construction decision-making.
The international conference provided an opportunity to present the research to experts in construction automation and robotics and to receive valuable feedback from the research community that will help shape the next stage of the study.
