Dr Danny Murguia, Assistant Research Professor at the Cambridge Laing O’Rourke Centre, and Dr Ashan Asmone, Research Associate, have been shortlisted for the 2026 Industrialised Construction Awards in recognition of their work to improve productivity in industrialised construction through data-driven collaboration and digital innovation.
Their work has been recognised in three categories. Improving Productivity in Industrialised Construction Through Data-Driven Collaboration has been shortlisted for both the Skills, Training & Workforce Development Award and Collaborative Project of the Year. A second project, Cambridge Digital Productivity Twin for Industrialised Construction, has been shortlisted in the Digital Innovation in Industrialised Construction category.
The shortlisted projects highlight how the Cambridge Laing O'Rourke Centre is working with industry partners to turn live project data into practical insight. At Timber Square, the collaboration project brought together Cambridge, Landsec, Mace Construct and Tier 2 contractors to create shared performance reviews and benchmarks that supported improvements in delivery across major packages, including the structural frame, cladding and CAT A fit-out.
The digital innovation project, developed with Morrisroe at Edge London Bridge, created a Cambridge Digital Productivity Twin by integrating programme data, BIM, CCTV, labour records and site information into a single platform. This enabled near-real-time visibility into production, helping teams compare planned and actual performance, identify constraints, and improve repeatability on site.
The shortlisted projects demonstrate the impact of the Centre’s research in industrialised construction: helping the construction sector measure productivity more consistently, share knowledge more effectively across the supply chain, and use digital tools to support better decision-making on live projects.
