Distinguished Lecture 2025
As part of Professor Middleton's career celebration event held in the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering, Professor Middleton delivered the Laing O’Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology Distinguished Lecture 2025, titled “If you do not measure it, you will not change it.”
Drawing on extensive research with UK industry partners, he highlighted the importance of consistent approaches to collecting and interpreting construction performance data as a foundation for boosting productivity across the sector. Professor Middleton outlined insights from the Cambridge Productivity Framework, showing how rigorous performance measurement can lead to more reliable project delivery, better planning, and greater innovation in construction.
