Biography

Rafael Sacks earned his BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South Africa in 1983, SM in Structural Engineering from MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA in 1985, and PhD in Construction Management from the Technion - IIT, Haifa, Israel, in 1997.

He is a Professor of Construction Management in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion – IIT.

Prof. Sacks is a recipient of the Thomas Fitch Rowland Prize of the Construction Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), for "valuable contributions to construction management and construction engineering." He is the lead author of the "BIM Handbook", currently in its 3rd edition, and of the book "Building Lean, Building BIM: Changing Construction the Tidhar Way". He has published 78 papers in international peer-reviewed academic journals, 99 peer-reviewed conference papers, and numerous research reports.
