Laing O'Rourke Centre for Construction Engineering and Technology

Maciej Trzeciak is a PhD student in Engineering sponsored by BP, GeoSLAM, Laing O'Rourke, Topcon Positioning Group, and Trimble. He is expected to graduate in 2023. Maciej holds a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland where he was awarded Rector’s scholarships for the best students for the whole study period consecutively and graduated with the highest distinction. He worked both in the industry, as a structural engineer at BuroHappold Engineering, and academia, as a research associate at the Technical University of Munich, being primarily involved in R&D projects in close collaboration with industry partners. His PhD project is focused on the automated registration of raw spatial and visual data of infrastructure scenes in near real-time. Maciej is supervised by Dr Ioannis Brilakis and advised by Prof Joan Lasenby. He is a member of Hughes Hall College.

PhD project: PointPix: A better, more efficient way to raw spatial and visual data
This project aims at the automated registration of spatial and visual data in near real-time for large-scale infrastructure scenes. The main focus is on decreasing a spatial error of registered datasets up to a level defined by end-user requirements while automating the real-time registration to the extend possible.
