The Course Director Challenge
Welcome to the Challenge from the Course Director, Dr Gavin Davies
Since starting in my role a little over a year ago, I have been blown away by the diversity, talent, knowledge and passion of the CEM students. Since then, I have been looking at how we can improve all aspects of the CEM programme. The most important opportunity, from my perspective, is to increase the CEM’s impact on the industry. As part of that drive, we are now looking to increase the CEM cohort size slightly so that more talented current and future industry leaders can benefit from the CEM.
The 2023 Challenge
We recognise that you, our alumni and current students, are the best advocates for the CEM programme. You know what it takes to study the CEM and can see the impact you can have on your business from the knowledge and skills you have gained.
We would like you to help us in our efforts to grow the programme by using your networks to find and introduce us to potential future students who share a passion for improving the industry and want to equip themselves with the knowledge and skills to help them lead that industry transformation.
We would like to invite you to do three things:
1 – review your industry network and identify specific individuals you think would benefit from and enjoy the programme. In the spirit of the course, we are particularly keen for you to talk to people outside your own organisation.
2 – speak to your shortlist about the programme, share the link to our website, and point them towards our introductory video.
3 – ask interested credible prospective applicants to contact us via email at centre.manager@construction.cam.ac.uk for a discussion about the course.
What makes a good CEM candidate?
Remember prospective students must have a first degree, be a current or future leader with a passion for improving the sector and have enough experience to contribute meaningfully to peer-to-peer learning while on the programme.
Timescale
We seek your input now and during the next few weeks to increase the number of applications by the 1st May 2023 deadline for suitable candidates for this year’s intake in September.
What’s in it for you?
Those of you who are named when we speak to a good prospective candidate or mention you by name in their application will be invited to our first Course Director’s Challenge Dinner in Cambridge this summer.
We are extremely grateful for you taking the time to support the CEM programme in this way and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the dinner later this year.
