Chang Ye Gue

Ph.D. Student

Biography:

Chang Ye Gue graduated with First Class Honours from Universiti Tenaga Nasional Malaysia (UNITEN) in 2011. He then worked for the largest geotechnical consultancy in Malaysia, G&P Geotechnics, as a geotechnical engineer for 6 months before pursuing his PhD at the University of Cambridge in January 2012, under scholarship from Laing O'Rourke.

Student C.Y.Gue is part of a team that fitted fibre optic sensors in the Post Office tunnel beneath Liverpool Street Station in order to study its behaviour in relation to a Crossrail tunnel being built underneath it. He will combine findings from this with further data from a similar deployment of this equipment during Crossrail excavations at Bond Street Station next year. He is also using centrifuge modelling to simulate the construction of a new tunnel beneath an existing tunnel.

He is supervised by Dr Mohammed Elshafie.
